Why inshore, and why a skiff
An 18-foot Maverick HPX floats in very little water. That is the whole point.
Inshore fishing here means the Intracoastal Waterway and the marsh behind the barrier islands. It is calm compared with the ocean, the scenery changes around every bend, and the fish live in water shallow enough to see them.
A technical skiff reaches flats and creek backs that bay boats and offshore boats cannot. It also keeps groups small: up to three anglers, all within arm's reach of the captain.
