Redfish
The fish this water is known for. Redfish push onto flooded grass flats on high water, tail in the shallows and stack on creek mouths and oyster edges as the tide drops. Most Coastal Valley Charters photos have one in them for a reason.

Redfish are the headline on this water. Snook, flounder, trout and tarpon fill out the card depending on the season and the tide, and winter belongs to sheepshead.

Snook
Northeast Florida sits at the top of the snook's range, which makes every one a trophy. They hold tight to docks, seawalls and moving water, and they hit hard.

Sheepshead
The winter specialty, December to March. When the water cools, sheepshead crowd around docks, pilings and oyster bars, and Coastal Valley Charters runs trips built around them. They nibble lightly, fight hard for their size and are excellent eating.

Flounder
Ambush feeders that lie on sand and mud bottom near creek mouths and structure. A slow bait on the bottom finds them, and they are one of the best eating fish inshore.

Spotted seatrout
A light tackle staple. Trout school over deeper edges and grass, and they are a great fish for kids and beginners because the bites come in numbers.

Tarpon
The silver king moves through Northeast Florida's inshore water in the warm months. A hooked tarpon on light tackle is the loudest thing that can happen on a skiff.
