From December to March, Captain Wills turns the skiff toward the docks and oyster bars and specializes in sheepshead. Same rates as every fishing charter.
Why winter means sheepshead
When the water cools, sheepshead crowd onto hard structure: dock pilings, bridge supports, seawalls and oyster bars. They feed on barnacles and crabs, and they have a mouth full of teeth built for it.
That makes them one of the most technical fish inshore. The bite is light, the fish is quick to steal a bait, and a hookset has to be well timed. It is also why they are so satisfying to catch, and they are excellent eating.
A trip built around one fish
From December to March, Coastal Valley Charters specializes in sheepshead. Captain Wills works the structure that holds them and coaches the group on how to feel the bite.
From December to March, pick 4 or 6 hours at the regular charter rates and choose sheepshead on the booking form. Captain Wills confirms the start time when he replies. There is no deposit.
